How does the Sammy Fund Work?  

  The Sammy Fund is the group of friends that raises donations for the Samantha Otte Youth Opportunity Fund at the Community Foundation of the Quincy Area.  Grants from the SOYOF make worthwhile activities available to children who might not otherwise have the resources to participate.

The Samantha Otte Youth Opportunity Fund supports groups that maintain and enhance community betterment, as well as those that provide artistic, leadership and humanitarian opportunity for young people.

Programs supported by the Samantha Otte Youth Opportunity Fund include:

	Camping scholarships for handicapped children
	Scouting activities
	Theater and art scholarships
	Art lessons and activities
	Swimming lessons for Head Start youngsters and swimming passes for children in need
	Leadership and humanitarian opportunities for young people
	Animal care education for children

 Each year qualified organizations can submit a request for funding through the Community Foundation of the Quincy Area.

  The Sammy Fund also directly supports the involvement of disadvantaged kids in a variety of worthwhile pursuits.
  
  Programs supported by direct grants from the Sammy Fund group include:
  BlackStar tutoring program
  National Youth Sports Program
  People to People Leadership Training
  LeadAmerica Conference
  YoungLife camp fees
  Unmet Needs Committee of Quincy IL
